Watering Instructions

Put the hose at the base of the trunk and turn to 1/2 to 3/4 flow, letting the entire root ball soak until it fills the holes left behind by the tree spade. Water the first three days after planting and then every two weeks until ground is frozen. Start the next year when ground has thawed and soak every two weeks throughout the entire second year, and once a month during the third.

For pine trees put the hose at the base of the trunk and turn to 1/2 to 3/4 flow, letting the entire root ball soak until it fills the holes left behind by the tree spade. Water the first three days after planting, then once a month until the ground is frozen. Start again the next year when the ground is thawed and soak every month the entire second and third year.

Testimonials

  • Steve and the team at Carstens helped us on short notice with a big job, transplanting trees at a local hospital. Steve was professional and extremely well skilled at operating the tree spade at such a high-profile site. We will use Carstens again and would highly recommend them for anyone looking for tree spading.
